Biography of Justin Guarini

Justin Guarini is an American pop singer, songwriter, and actor. He gained fame after finishing in second place on the show "American Idol" in 2002. Guarini was born on October 28, 1978, in Columbus, Georgia. His father, Eldrin Bell, was the Chief of Police in Georgia and Chairman of the Clayton County Commission. His mother, Kathy Pepino Guarini, was a journalist at WTVM TV in Columbus and later worked at CNN. Guarini was raised by his mother and stepfather, physicist Jerry Guarini, in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

Early Musical Career

Guarini's musical career began when he was only 4 years old. He was accepted into the Atlanta Boy Choir and later joined the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Boys Choir after his family moved to Pennsylvania in 1985. Guarini also sang in the school choir and became the lead soloist of the group "The Midnight Voices," which won an award. In 1999, the group released an independent album, with proceeds going to charity. Guarini also participated in school theater, playing lead roles in various productions.

Education and Broadway

Guarini continued his education at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He later moved to New York, where he attended the School for Film and Television. Guarini was also spotted on Broadway, where he performed in "The Lion King." However, it was his appearance on "American Idol" in 2002 that propelled him to true fame. In June 2003, he released his self-titled debut album.

Musical Projects and Acting

Guarini was involved in various musical projects, including providing vocals for David Hughes' album "Foreign Shores." In 2004, he performed on the pre-Broadway stage in New York, showcasing his singing, dancing, and guitar-playing skills. He continued to act in independent projects such as "Fast Girl," "The Unknown: Frankie The Squirrel," "Mafioso II: The Son," and "Tilt-a-Whirl for the Dances."

Television Appearances and Marriage

Guarini appeared on several television programs, including AMC's FilmFakers, Regis and Kelly, VH1's Top 20 Countdown, ManiaTV!'s U Pick 'Em, Too Short for Hollywood, and Gone Country, Season 3. In 2007, he signed a contract with TV Guide Network. In February 2009, Guarini confirmed rumors of his upcoming marriage to his fiancée, Reina/Raina.
